1998-2006

 




The work in this section is from 1998 onwards. I have worked collaboratively with other artists during this time, as well as developing new techniques inspired by the Medieval. Baroque and Renaissance periods. This piece is called "The Big Picture", 1998. It is 2m x 1.5m, cotton paper cast and embedded with images, coat hangers and fabric. This work is a collaboration with textile artist Jude Lamb, and is featured in Craft Arts International No 45.

 


 

 

This piece was made for the Meroogal Womens Art Prize, 1999, in the early days before the exhibition toured to Spiral Gallery. It was the winner of the Highly Commended Prize, and was exhibited at Vaucluse House in Sydney. It is called "A Womans Garden I" and is embedded and cast cotton paper, 85cm x 75cm.

 


 

 

This piece was made for the Mandorla Religious Award 2000 Perth, WA - the exhibition theme was The Birth of Jesus. It is called Nascent, from The Cross I Bare Series VI. The work is inspired by the stained glass windows of the medieval gothic cathedrals. Embedded and cast cotton and paper, 1.25m x 0.75m. In the collection of Lizzie Doyle, Tathra.

 


 

 

This is a detail from a commissioned pelmet 5 metres long by 40cms. It is based on the owners garden and is called "Helens Garden" from the series A womans Garden VI. Embedded and cast cotton and paper, 2000.

 


 

 

This piece was selected for the 2002 Red Hot Fibre Exhibition held at the Redcliffe City Art Gallery, Queensland. The theme was "Paper & String". The title is A Few Of My Favourite Things, from the series The Musicians II. Wrapped objects using fibre paper made from Iris, lavendar, bamboo, kozo, flax and basil. Five panels from the Zodiac series - Pisces (Something Fishy), Leo (Where There's Smoke), Taurus (A Lot of Bull), Virgo (Like a Virgin) and Aries (Mary Was a Little Ramb). They are all 1m by 20 cm, embedded, embossed and cast cotton paper, 2002. Two panels are featured in Textile Fibre Forum magazine No 67.
