This exhibition is a celebration of the life of artist Maggy Troughear and the creative energy she passed on to her daughter, Barbara Crowden, and her grand daughter Polly. Originally planned as a Mother’s Day celebration, and a thankyou from daughter to mother, it became a real family affair with the 3 women combining their artistic offerings in a tapestry of oil paintings, mixed media and photographs. Maggy's paintings provide a story of her children, and their families. Barbara’s work draws on inspiration from her paternal grandmother, also named Pollie. She has incorporated mosaics into her embedded cotton paper wall works, based on old fashioned picture frames, featuring images of flowers from her mother’s garden. The result is highly decorative, and continues Barbara’s love of the rich and golden Renaissance period. Polly has been experimenting with black and white photography and her work features portraits of her friends, and incorporates hand tinted flowers from her mothers garden.
