Most people are interested in basic papermaking because it teaches them how to recycle paper and this, in turn, gives them some control over their immediate environment. It empowers people to do something creative and useful with their waste paper.
Having mastered the basics, many people continue to study the
various applications of handmade paper. From writing paper and
envelopes, they move on to more intricate art works that involve very
exciting and creative techniques, and the use of interesting plant
fibres.
